Carriers are tools for closeness and errands. Match the style to your stage and comfort, follow the maker’s fit guidance, and ask a fit check / clinician if something feels off. Soft CTAs only — no fear marketing.
Checklist
- Newborn: follow carrier age/weight minimums and a supportive hold you were shown
- Growing baby: adjust panels/straps as they gain head control — don’t guess from memory alone
- Toddlers: structured carriers or soft structured options you can still breathe in
- Practice at home before the grocery run
- If hips, breathing, or your back hurt — pause and get a fit check
Quick table
| Stage | Soft starting style | Watch-outs |
|---|---|---|
| Early weeks | Soft wrap / carrier rated for newborns | Respect minimums; keep airways clear |
| Sitting / stronger | SSC or adjustable panel | Recheck fit as they grow |
| Toddler | Firm SSC if trained | Your back matters too |
| Errands | The one you’ll actually put on | Fancy carriers you never practice |
Practice once at home. One carrier you’ll use beats three you won’t.
