Blowout. Wet onesie in the bag. You don’t need a system. Wash on warm, fragrance-free, hang the extra sleepers tonight so tomorrow isn’t bare. This map is bathroom-caddy practical: contain, rinse, wash, restock the spare — then stop.
The map
- Gloves or a wipe on your hands if you want them. Bag the worst layer at the scene so it doesn’t paint the rest of the tote.
- Rinse the solid mess in cold water in the utility sink or tub — outside the washing machine drum if you can. You’re knocking the load down, not hosting a ceremony.
- Pre-treat the stain with a dab of fragrance-free detergent or a stain stick you already own. Leave it; don’t scrub a hole in the cotton.
- Wash on warm with your usual fragrance-free detergent. Full cycle. Resist the urge to invent a “blowout setting.”
- Hang or lay flat the extra sleepers and onesies tonight — even one spare on the rack means morning isn’t bare.
- Wipe the change pad, car-seat buckle edges, and the inside of the wet bag while the machine runs. Same cloth, done once.
- Restock the change bag: one spare onesie, one spare sleeper if you have it, wipes in front, bag empty and unzipped to dry.
- Stop. The house does not need a deep clean because of one diaper. Tomorrow’s hang is enough.
